1. If there were great restaurants, some kind of shopping and a movieplex...would you spend your date night's here?

2. Or would you still go to Pasadena, Burbank and Glendale?

3. What restaurants would you use, no really, REALLY use, if they were here?

4. What shops need to be here to keep you and your business here, so you would
not need to go off the rock?

5. How much money do you spend, per month, in other areas right now? Knowing
times are a little tough, how much were you spending in other areas - going
back two years, kind of rough average per month?

Just a loose survey of sorts from your Business Rep on STNC. Let's post thoughts here........or pm me if you are shy.

If there was a movieplex or even a single movie theater on the rock I would take the whole family. If we had a Black Cow kinda resturant that would draw me in too, if there was something like Crown City brewery or BJs up here that would absolutley rock !! I would much rather spend date night in town. When we do go out as a family, dinner is usualy around $100.00. Usualy, if we dont go to Joselito's we'll go to Montrose then Burbank then Pasadena. Glendale just doesnt appeal to me.

As for stores, everyone wants a Target or Walmart. I always go to Foothill Hardware first if I need things of that nature and if they dont have what I need I go to Lowes in Burbank or Do-it-center.

A pet store would be nice too.

I always thought a Sporting good store would do good in the buildings by Oro Vista

Trader Joe's would do good on the rock I think

1. If there were great restaurants, some kind of shopping and a movieplex...would you spend your date night's here? Definately

2. Or would you still go to Pasadena, Burbank and Glendale? No need to go to any of these places if we have one stop shopping and dining and entertainment here!

3. What restaurants would you use, no really, REALLY use, if they were here? Souplantation, Outback, Macaroni Grill, Red Lobster type of restaurants, although I love the idea of something non-chain like similar to Black Cow (great idea Kart Dad), someplace I can buy shoes for my teenager like Tillys.

4. What shops need to be here to keep you and your business here, so you would
not need to go off the rock? A Target type store is a must, a book store like Borders, a sports store is a good idea.

5. How much money do you spend, per month, in other areas right now? Knowing
times are a little tough, how much were you spending in other areas - going
back two years, kind of rough average per month? 100+

Well, with my life of backcountry ghosttowns and all...I can't fairly answer this survey. I don't go to the movies...but I can understand that it would be great for families here. I go to Black Cow, Joselitos, Mi Casita for dinner..wouldn't mind another restraunt so long as it's not a big "chain" or too pricey. A Trader Joe's would be nice, and Target!!!!! I'm tired of hitting the K-Mart's in Ridgecrest or Bishop for socks and underwear, and the Mammoth outlet stores for jeans and sweaters...that's one less day on my adventures that I could be in the backcountry instead of shopping.

It's so sad to hear how different things are now. Our Mom's had to major subermarkets, Shopping Bag and Piggly Wiggly. We teenagers prefered Piggly cause the baggers were so cute... Sadly, my Mom prefered Shopping Bag. Oh wait there was a smaller market, Community but they had Green Stamps, Mom prefered Blue Chip...
We had the Tujunga for walk-in Movies and the Sunland Drive-in... Lots of little stores, for clothes etc. Metrz furniture.
The Police took FOREVER to come to S-T... Wait us old folks do go on... Just look at my slide show.

1) Absolutely! Having options very close to home would help, since we don't get the opportunity very often (sick mother that lives with us, needs frequent care). We could go out without the current angst that follows us when we stray out too far.

2) We probably still would on occasion.

3) As far as restuarant chains go, we practically LIVE at Souplantation, and Red Robin comes in as a very close second place.

4) Target is the other place we 'reside' at.

5) ~$300+??

1. If there were great restaurants, some kind of shopping and a movieplex...would you spend your date night's here?My boyfriend and i have Burbank days, we go and spend the day in burbank just because there is no good shopping/eating up here. so if some shops and good restaurants got put in up here i would totally spend date nights here.

2. Or would you still go to Pasadena, Burbank and Glendale? Depending on what goes in. I think no matter what, i will always go out of the area sometimes.

3. What restaurants would you use, no really, REALLY use, if they were here? Chilis, TGIF's, Outback, CPK, numero uno, hot dog on a stick, hometown buffet...

4. What shops need to be here to keep you and your business here, so you would not need to go off the rock? A Barnes and Noble defiantly. More clothing stores.

5. How much money do you spend, per month, in other areas right now? Knowing times are a little tough, how much were you spending in other areas - going back two years, kind of rough average per month? easily 200+

1) I would definitely stay in town more.
2) Restaurant--California Pizza Kitchen
3) Target, and a good bookstore--does not have to be a chain, but the good bookstores (like Vromans in Pasadena) are usually part of the American Booksellers Association.
4) I spend the majority of my money outside of S-T: Trader Joe's for groceries, Target in Burbank for household goods, and the Northridge Mall for clothing.

I think it is highly unlikely that TJ's will be moving into S-T. One time when I was in the La Crescenta store, a district manager told me that it was unlikely. He said that the opportunity that arose a few years ago fell through because the shopping center (byRalph's??) and/or leasing company was not willing to help with moving costs; thus, the move was not cost-effective.

So we eat pet food. That's why I'll never go to another Ralph's
