The meeting was disappointing and enlightening at the same time. Did anyone else go? The LAUSD police did NOT show up. That speaks volumes to me.

And I am sure it speaks to the parents who's kids have been harrassed by the school police and the one who is in jail due to the MTA bus incident.

These cops are escalating in their abuse of power. I asked about this on the forum last year. Few people agreed with me.

It has to STOP.

Comments anyone?

I know all about the 'Bus incident'. It is despicable. It is shocking that this young kid spent so many months in jail and was innocent. The school police at Verdugo are out of control and have been since I've become aware of them. I've been harassed by the female officer!

It seems to me that the only people concerned about this, are people whose children have been harassed at Verdugo. Everyone else is in their own little world. If they don't have children in VHHS they shine it on. jmho This is really too bad. Because VHHS is SO BAD for a some of the kids, and a lot of these kids drop out and become a problem to the community. It really is, and should be, a community concern.

The Pasadena/Foothills ACLU has had a couple of meetings over the past few years on what they call the 'school to prison pipeline' particularly in northwest Pasadena - seems to be a similar thing going on here: escalating school yard infractions into criminal acts basically putting rambunctious kids on a track to be criminals. Even more questionable things have happened at some Glendale schools. There are people other than those whose children are involved working on solutions. We are moving quietly for now so we don't further damage innocent students. Anyone with concerns about a LAUSD situation should pm ed rep, anyone with concerns about GUSD can pm me.

I have heard that the police are harrassing community members now.

My child was terribly harrassed by them over the last two years with some life delaying consequences. I so regret not reporting them. I eventually had to report Officer Kay when she was trying to provoke my son by calling him names 1 week before graduation. He did not bite. His character spoke. Which leads me to ask -why does a child's character have to speak to responsible adults?

I am not from California so I see things a bit differently. But it sure looks like many in this community are like the frog on the hot plate. Not realizing anything is wrong until they get burnt. Then it is too late.

I can tell though that these parents do love their children and want what's best for them. Nobody considers thier children throwaways. I suggest we all get behind Ed Rep and demand change!
