I know the guy thinks he loves his dog, but he gave her up for dead. The Washburns should get to keep the dog.

Make no mistake, I do not, as some do, place the lives of animals over those of people. And it does happen in extreme circumstances when an animal must be left behind.

BUT...that will never excuse a person from leaving an animal to die when something can be done, as clearly was the case here.

I really shouldn't state what I would do to the original owner if I were King. His lack of action to save or apparent concern for the dog is reprehensible at best. He should not be allowed to own a dog ever again.

This on top of the fact that the original owner is a f :x :x :x ing moron. He should have been far more aware of his surroundings and not continued to a point where any member of the party, human or animal, would be so endangered.

I am continually appalled at people like the original owner. The lack of forethought and disregard for safety...damn, what can I say? It astounds me.

I would have done the same thing as the people who rescued the dog, and no judge in his right might is going to give the dog back to the original owner.

How a person treats animals is a direct reflection on the character of that person. Who will argue this point?
