When I drove by a couple of hours ago all the police were gone. Channel 7 was there and it looked like a reporter was getting ready to do a story from the sidewalk - Bill told me about the grenade in a trade-in when I got home.

Not only was the grenade inert - it had been sitting there for three years! http://montrose.patch.com/articles/bomb ... automobile

Now wait a minute! Image The Glendale News-Press says
Quote:
The World War II grenade was found by employees at Bob Smith Toyota on 3333 Foothill Blvd. around 4:50 p.m. as they were cleaning and servicing a car for resale, said Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz.

And the Montrose Patch says
Quote:
A Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department bomb squad team is investigating a suspicious device found inside a car parked behind Classic Collision Center, Inc. in La Crescenta, Glendale Police Department officials told Montrose Patch.

So which is it? There's proof that the news media never get the facts quite right.

Both can be true. Bob Smith Toyota is at 3333 Foothill, whose employees were down the street cleaning out the old car - Classic Collision Center is near by. Bob Smith Toyota has cars parked on both sides of Foothill so they may have them in neighboring lots too. I think the owners are trying to make the area look as prosperous as possible with work going on various places. Their property on the south side of Foothill has been for sale for years.
